CEDAR RESIDENCE
A two-year complete gut renovation of an existing heritage home on Cedar Avenue in Westmount. The project also included a back addition for the kitchen. The inspiration for the design came from being in this historic environment and having a fresh perspective on a character-rich design with a storyline that reflects the clients, who both love Paris and are passionate about European architecture.
The renovation features a transitional style that blends traditional architectural elements with modern finishes and sleek furniture. The colour palette is subtle yet sophisticated, utilizing neutral tones, premium materials, and architectural symmetry to create a calm, elegant atmosphere. Some design highlights include:
- A French-inspired staircase that spirals vertically from the basement to the third floor, connecting all levels and creating a sense of openness and flow.
- A top-of-the-line kitchen and scullery featuring a French La Cornue Château Suprême range stove and leather hood, high-end cabinetry, and a full range of appliances.
- Custom metal and glass entry doors, European White Oak Trianon floors, White Oak archways, Italian marble mantle, panelled arched pocket doors, double island master walk-in, marbled master bathroom with Waterworks faucetry, guest bathrooms in marble and hand-painted wallpaper.
Overall, this 12,000 sq. ft. renovation showcases modern elegance blended with classic charm. Every detail—from lighting to millwork—feels intentional, luxurious, and timeless. The result is a cohesive and upscale living space perfect for both relaxing and entertaining, designed exclusively for this couple. The exterior features a pool, pool house, and beautiful gardens, all also renovated by my firm.
